If you’d told me a Shakespeare remix packed with early 2000s pop hits would have me cracking up and emotionally invested by the end… I might’ve raised an eyebrow. But & Juliet isn’t just another jukebox musical—it’s a wild, witty, and surprisingly thoughtful celebration of agency, reinvention, and pop bangers that defined a generation (my generation ❤️).
What if Juliet didn’t die at the end of Romeo & Juliet? What if, instead of a tragic ending, she got a second chance to define her own story—with a little help (and meddling) from Anne Hathaway and William Shakespeare themselves?
The result is a clever, high-energy ride told through the iconic songs of Max Martin—the songwriting genius behind hits like Since U Been Gone, Roar, Stronger, It’s My Life, and Teenage Dream (yes, really- we were researching this the whole way home because we thought royalties would be too damn high for this show to survive).

The talent of this cast was insane- especially when I realized how many cast members in the performance I saw were understudies. Juliet, played by Rachel Webb, was an absolute powerhouse. The talent in that lead role is insane—her vocals were jaw-dropping from the first haunting notes of her rendition of Baby One More Time, her presence lit up the stage, and her emotional range made even the most familiar pop songs feel new. From heartbreak anthems to power ballads, she carried every moment with such heart and strength.
Another incredible mention was Anne and Shakespeare- they were stealing scenes left and right. Their banter was hilarious, their chemistry electric, and the meta-commentary they wove into the plot gave the show real cleverness. Anne in particular had us laughing out loud and rooting for her feminist rewrites every time she stepped in with a new plot twist, and Shakespeare’s timing was spot.

Francois and May brought so much love and were two of the show’s most unexpectedly charming characters. Their chemistry was so natural and genuinely sweet, bringing some of the most heartfelt and hilarious moments to the stage. Their voices? Gorgeous. The way their harmonies blended added such emotional depth, and their duet moments were easily some of the most memorable of the night- especially since Whataya Want From Me is one of my absolute favorite songs. Total scene-stealers in the best way.
And the music…. Honestly, this is where & Juliet shines. The songs weren’t just shoehorned in—they were woven seamlessly into the narrative, often reframing familiar lyrics with brand-new meaning. It was fun to see how many emotional beats were elevated by songs you’ve probably belted alone in your car for years not truly feeling the meaning behind the words.

What can you expect if you attend?
- Think Shakespeare meets girlboss glitter concert.
- The costumes were playful and full of personality.
- The choreography brought the energy—even in the slower moments.
- The audience was clearly into it (which made it all the more fun to experience live).
Was every moment perfect? No show ever is. I personally thought there were some pacing lulls in Act II, and the night I attended included several understudies, which may have impacted overall chemistry in certain scenes. But honestly? The show delivered exactly what it promised: joy, empowerment, and a whole lot of fun.
& Juliet is a celebration of rewriting the story, choosing yourself, and dancing through it all—even the heartbreak.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely—especially for fans of pop music, those who like to see spins on classic stories, or anyone just looking for a fun, feel-good night out.
Go in ready to laugh, sing along (in your head), and maybe shed a few “I am woman, hear me roar” tears. Juliet lives—and she does it with glitter, heart, and a killer soundtrack.
